Metallica’s U.K. album release history is largely identical to their U.S. schedule. Albums with the same title and track listing have always been released within a few days of the American counterparts: Kill ‘Em All, Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets came out on Music For
Nations, and the rest of their catalogue on Vertigo.
In stark contrast to the similarities of the album release histories, Metallica have put out many more singles and EPs in the UK than in America, many of which are much-prized collectors’ items for which US fans have proved willing to pay hefty import prices. These are the most signifi cant releases:
‘Jump In The Fire’ / ‘Seek and Destroy (live)’ / ‘Phantom Lord (live)’. January 1984, Music For Nations. Note: Although ‘Seek and Destroy’ and ‘Phantom Lord’ were billed as live tracks, they were recorded in the studio, and crowd noise added.
‘Creeping Death’ / ‘Am I Evil?’ / ‘Blitzkreig’. November 1984, Music For Nations.
