There are many “ideal weight“ formulas, and you can find them online. One of the earliest was provided by Broca P. P., (1871/1877). Mémoires d’anthropologie. Paris, the same Dr. Broca who discovered Broca’s area. It is approximately 100 pounds (women) or 110 pounds (men) for the first 60 inches (5 feet) of height plus 5 pounds for each inch above that. To cover variations in body composition, Broca suggested that the desirable weight would be within 15 percent of the calculated number.
