Friedrich List, The National System of Political Economy (London: Longmans, Green 1885).
K. S. Jomo, A Question of Class: Capital, the State and Uneven Development in Malaya (Singapore: Oxford University Press, 1986).
Alice H. Amsden, Asia's Next Giant: South Korea and Late Industrialization, (New York: Oxford University Press, 1989).
Stephan Haggard, Chung H. Lee and Sylvia Maxfield eds., The Politics of Finance in Developing Countries (Ithaca, NY: Cornell University Press, 1993).
Ha-Joon Chang, Kicking Away the Ladder: Development Strategy in Historical Perspective (London: Anthem, 2002). Bad Samaritans: Rich Nations, Poor Policies and the Threat to the Developing World (London: Random House, 2007).
Robert Wade, Governing the Market: Economic Theory and the Role of Government in East Asian Industrialization (Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press, 2004).
Joe Studwell, Asian Godfathers: Money and Power in Hong Kong and South-east Asia (London: Profile Books, 2008).
Barry Naught on, 'China's Distinctive System: Can It be a Model for Others?' in Journal of Contemporary China, June 2010.
